WE LIVE

IN CAIRO

2024 | NYTS | Des. David Bengali | Animation - Taylor Edelle Stuart

For We Live in Cairo, a show centered on the 2011 Egyptian Revolution and the pivotal role of social media in mobilizing protests, the video design brought the digital uprising to life through immersive animated landscapes. To capture the essence of early social media, the team employed an array of Trapcode tools, including Particular for dynamic particle effects, Form for creating textured grids and waveforms, and Shine for radiant, light-based animations. These techniques recreated the chaotic flow of information, hashtags, and posts, blending organic motion with pixelated, glitchy aesthetics to immerse audiences in the digital pulse of the revolution.

WATER FOR ELEPHANTS

2024 | Broadway | Des. David Bengali | Animation + Assistant Design - Taylor Edelle Stuart

For Water for Elephants, the projection design brought the titular elephant to life through a meticulous animation process. By filming the puppet in motion and keyframe animating out the puppeteers, our team digitally reconstructed the figure into a lifelike moving shadow—a hauntingly beautiful silhouette blending tangible artistry with digital innovation to immerse audiences in the story's magic.

Additionally, we created dynamic, cinematic backdrops of skies using a blend of original materials and scenic-style fabrications. These textured, painterly visuals added depth and motion, transporting audiences through shifting times, places, and emotions with breathtaking elegance.

HERE THERE ARE

BLUEBERRIES

2024 | NYTS | Des. David Bengali | Animation - Taylor Edelle Stuart

For Here There Are Blueberries, the projection design brought the haunting story of a Nazi-era photo album to life, transforming historical stills into dynamic, larger-than-life visuals. The design allowed audiences to view the photographs as if under a metaphysical microscope, emphasizing their profound impact. By colorizing and animating many of the images, our team gave motion and emotional resonance to the stills, weaving them into the narrative to explore their revelations about the Holocaust's perpetrators and our shared humanity. The result was a visually striking and deeply reflective storytelling experience.
